Two farm attendants have on Friday been arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, for allegedly stealing chickens worth N595,000.
The defendants, Gabriel Thomas, 26; and Samson Omonitan, 21, whose addresses were not provided, are standing trial on a two-count-charge of conspiracy and stealing.
They each, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Elisha Tellang, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on the 13th of October at about 7.30 p.m. at Avema Farms in Ido, Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendants, who are attendants at the farm, conspired to steal 70 broiler chickens worth N595, 000 belonging to the Avema farms.
The offences contravene the provisions of sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Moyosore Atanda, granted the defendants bails in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case until November 12, for hearing.
