The Lagos State Police Command has reacted to a viral video of suspected hoodlums and street urchins extorting a motorist while attempting to refuel his car which broke down along the road.
As captured in the video shared on X on the 17th of September, the driver had rushed to a nearby petrol station with his jerrycan after his car ran out of fuel along Lagos-Ikorodu Road at Majidun Ogolonto area of the state.
On arrival at the spot where he parked his car, three approached him, demanding for settlement before he can be allowed to refuel the car.
One of them could be seen seizing his hose while the other two confronted him.
Reacting in a post on her official X handle on Saturday, the Lagos Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the command is aware of the incident.
She disclosed that the police had since taken action with tactical units across the state directed by the Lagos Police Commissioner, Jimoh Olohundare, to intensify patrol and arrest the miscreants.
Adebisi urged residents to cooperate with by providing useful information to assist their operation.
