A delegation from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Headquarters, has met with the electoral officers in Anambra ahead of the state’s governorship elections.
The delegates, led by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu, met with the 21 Electoral Officers (EOs) in charge of the 21 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.
The engagement focused on assessing preparedness, identifying logistics challenges, and strengthening operational readiness for the upcoming polls.
This was made known in a statement issued on Thursday by commission.

As quoted in the statement, Dr. Kenneth Ukeagu, National Commissioner supervising Anambra State, in his remarks, commended the Electoral Officers for their past cooperation.
Ukeagu urged them to extend the same support to the incoming INEC Chairman.
“We have many elections and ongoing activities ahead. The year 2026 will be very busy, and everyone will have a role to play,” he stated.
Dr. Ukeagu emphasized the need for timely activation of Registration Area Centres (RACs), proper mobilization of poll officials, and prompt opening of all polling units.
He directed the officers to ensure adequate vehicle arrangements, meticulous documentation, and effective reverse logistics after the elections.

On her part, the National Commissioner in charge of Election Planning and Monitoring, Prof. Rhoda Gumus, charged the EOs to take ownership of their duties and ensure proper handling of both sensitive and non-sensitive materials.
“As non-sensitive materials arrive, batch them accordingly and verify the registers assigned to your areas. Conduct refresher training at RAC Centres to avoid delays,” she advised.
She stressed the need for accountability and protection of all electoral materials in their custody.
