A Lagos-based barber has accused the state government of demolishing his shop while leaving others due to his ethnicity.
The young artisan made the allegation as he recounted his ordeal in a now viral video.
As captured in the emotional video shared on X on Tuesday, the barber whose name was not disclosed broke down in tears as he alleged that his shop was singled out by the state government and demolished while other buildings around it were left.
Speaking in pidgin, he claimed his shop was demolished in the whole of two streets because he was Igbo.
“Why be say na only my shop dem see and break? Dem no break other people. Why be say na only my own dem break?
“Dem no see this mosque break, dem no see one, na only my own dem break. Abi na because I be Igbo boy. Na because I’m from Igbo tribe, na why dem go break my shop for the whole street.
“In the whole two streets, na only my own dem see. All in the name of dem wan do road, dem wan do gutter.
“Make una help me ask them Nigerians. Lagos State Government, make una help me ask dem.” He said.
