Embattled Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has regained his freedom after spending three years behind bars over alleged sexual abuse.
As announced in a post shared on Instagram on Friday by his fellow colleague, Yomi Fabiyi, Omiyinka was freed on Friday after being cleared of the allegation by the Court of Appeal.
Fabiyi disclosed that the Appeal Court overturned the embattled actor’s conviction, clearing him of allegations of defiling a minor.
“You are now officially free and out,” Fabiyi wrote. “I am also happy you were cleared by the Appeal Court of ever having sex with or defiling any child. The 7-year-old story is a charade.
“We live in a terrible world, where sentiments and wickedness rise above the rule of law and truth.” He wrote.
Recall that Baba Ijesha was arrested in April 2021.
He was arraigned on June 24 of the same year on a six-count charge, including indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, and sexual assault by penetration.
In July 2022, a Lagos High Court sentenced him to 16 years imprisonment, set to run concurrently, effectively amounting to five years.
The actor would thereafter appeal the judgment in April 2024, insisting that he was framed.
Baba Ijesha held that he acted according to a script allegedly given to him by a colleague.
While announcing the actor’s release, Fabiyi in the post on his Instagram page called out comedian Damola Adekola, popularly called Princess, who was alleged to have framed Baba Ijesha.
Fabiyi alleged that Princess Comedian groomed the minor for sexual activities with fellow Nollywood actor, Tunde Usman (Okele) sexually abusing the girl since 2020.
“Those that SET THE TRAP engaged in age falsification (because there was no single proof till date anywhere, not even in court that said victim was 14yrs).
“To me, they only weaponised abuse on child/minor to destroy a weak target and achieve vendetta.
“Damola Adekola(Princess Comedian ally/neighbour and Security of the house with Okele who sexually abused this girl since 2020 are still out there.
“Damola Adekola, who practically had sex, confirmed the girl was his girlfriend and was asked to walk free despite initially being arrested alongside Baba Ijesha. Make it make sense: same case, same victim, same investigation.
“Princess Comedian groomed the girl(minor) for sexual activities.
“This is coupled with negligence because sperm was found on the girl days after Baba Ijesha was arrested, and it is not for Baba Ijesha. Test conformed she recently lost her virginity then.
“Princess Comedian and her co-travellers engaged in CHILD PORNOGRAPHY by deliberately installing cameras on the same day Baba Ijesha was invited to film.
“She recorded how her foster daughter was sexually abused(THAT IS IF THE GIRL IS TRULY 14YRS).
“Princess Comedian subjected the girl to re-truama.
“She practically wants the girl to suffer PTSD just because she wants to gather evidence(THAT IS IF THE GIRL IS TRULY 14YRS). She abused the rights of the girl because she relied on her for food, shelter, and guidance.” Fabiyi wrote.
