The Nigerian Police Force has sealed off the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national headquarters in Abuja over the ongoing leadership crisis in the party.
As captured in a video shared on X on Wednesday, a stretch of barbed wire was laid across the entrance of the Wadata plaza with police personnel and patrol vans stationed across strategic areas around the PDP national headquarters.
This is coming under the heels of the clash which ensued between the Samuel Anyanwu-led faction of the party and the newly elected national leaders led by Kabiru Turaki, the new National President of the party.
NPO Reported that both factions had yesterday clashed at the Wadata Plaza where they both planned to hold separate meetings.
While Anyanwu, the party’s expelled National Secretary, had on Monday announced emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT) meetings, Turaki would also announce hours later that an inaugural National Working Committee (NWC) meeting will be held at the secretariat.
This would result to the fierce clash and dramas at the Wadata Plaza on Tuesday despite heavy security presence.
