Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Kebbi State to visit the families of the abducted schoolgirls in the state.
The Vice President on Wednesday afternoon left the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport for the directive of President Bola Tinubu.
NPO earlier Reported that Tinubu had directed Shettima to visit the state and to condole the parents and guardians of the kidnapped schoolgirls in the state.
Tinubu also charged Shettima to assure the parents and guardians of the kidnapped schoolgirls that the government will ensure their quick release.
Recall that suspected bandits had on Monday stormed the Government Comprehensive Girls Secondary School, Maga, Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of the state.
On their arrival, they reportedly killed the school’s security guard and Vice Principal before advancing to the girls’ hostel where they abducted over 25 students.
The development had since drawn strong condemnation with demand for the rescue of the students.
Meanwhile, some troop of the Nigerian Army allegedly deployed to bring back the girls were reportedly ambushed and attacked by the insurgents.
