No fewer than three suspected bandits have been neutralised by operatives attached to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command in a foiled kidnap attempt.
This is coming under the heels of recent kidnapping incidents in the ACO community, Gwagwalada, and Bwari, which prompted the FCT Commissioner of Police, Dantawaye Miller, to direct the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to intensify efforts to dismantle the gang.
As disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, credible intelligence revealed that the syndicate had planned another violent attack on or before December 1, 2025, with the intention of abducting residents for ransom.
Their plan was however intercepted as the FCT Police operatives on Sunday tracked and arrested one of the key conspirators of the attack and wanted kidnapper, Sani Mohammed Umar a.k.a Boko.
His arrest and interrogation led the team to criminal’s’ hideout where they engaged the suspected bandits in fierce fire exchange leading to the death of three bandits.
The statement read: “Acting swiftly on this intelligence, FCT Police operatives on November 30, 2025, at about 2:11 p.m., traced and arrested one of the key conspirators, a wanted kidnapper and armed robbery suspect named Sani Mohammed Umar a.k.a. Boko. His mobile phone, suspected to be the primary device used in coordinating the criminal operations, was also recovered.
“Investigations confirmed that the suspect belonged to the gang responsible for previous attacks and kidnappings in ACO, Dupa, and Gwagwalada, as well as multiple armed robbery incidents across Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali.
“He also admitted that his gang members were waiting for him at Gada Biyu Hills, Kwali, where they had converged to commence their next planned community attack.
“At about 11:01 p.m., the Anti-Kidnapping team, led by the OC Anti-Kidnapping, advanced into the forest, reached the gang’s meeting point, and laid an ambush.
