President Bola Tinubu has on Monday met with the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa (Rtd), at the State House, Abuja.
The visit was Musa’s first public appearance at the Villa since his retirement by President Tinubu on the 24th of October.
NPO Reported that Musa was alongside four other Service Chiefs relieved of their duties following Tinubu’s overhaul of the Armed Forces leadership.
Musa who served as the CDS from June 23, 2023, until his retirement was replaced by Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, who was deployed to the vacant role from his position as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS)
Meanwhile, details of the closed-door engagement between Tinubu and the ex-CDS were not disclosed.
Their meeting comes as the nation grapples with heightened insecurity, with the President recently declaring a national security emergency.
It also preceded the Presidency’s announcement of the resignation of the Minister of Defence,, Mohammed Badaru.
NPO earlier Reported that Badaru had yesterday tendered his resignation letter to Tinubu, citing health challenge as reason for the development.
According to the Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the President, would announce a new Defence Minister for confirmation by the Senate later thus week.
