The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Pro-Chancellor and eminent History Professor, Siyan Oyeweso, has passed away.
This was announced in a post shared on Facebook by veteran journalist, Dare Babarinsa.
According to Babarinsa, Oyeweso reportedly died on Tuesday.
The University Don’s demise was also confirmed in a statement issued by his younger brother, Olawale Oyeweso.
He, according to his brother, died at the age of 64 after brief illness and is set to be buried in accordance with Islamic rite by 4pm.
“He died on Tuesday, 2nd of December, 2025, at the age of 64, after a brief illness.
“His remains will be buried in his country home, Ede, by 4 pm today after solat Ashri.” Olalwale wrote.
