The Kwara State Police Command has nabbed four suspected armed couriers with 100 rounds of live ammunition recovered from him.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on the command’s official X handle on Friday.
According to the statement, the suspects’ arrest is coming barely 24 hours after a medical doctor was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services for transporting medical supplies from Sokoto state to kidnapping gangs operating in Kwara.
Meanwhile, the suspected arms couriers identified as Musa Mohammed, Adam Lawal. Musa Shaibu, and their driver, Owolaramfe Rafiu, were arrested in the early hours of Friday by the Police patrol team attached to the Lafiaji Area Command in Edu Local Government Area of the state.
“The Police at about 07:30 hrs on Friday during a routine stop and search operation along Gbugbu/Patigi road intercepted a Toyota Corolla with registration EP 434 ABC, containing 100 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition concealed among personal effects, along with various charms.
“The vehicle driven by Owolaramfe Rafiu had four other occupants; Musa Mohammed, Adam Alhaji Lawal, and Musa Shaibu have all been arrested.” The statement partly read.
The command further disclosed that a coordinated effort is underway to identify and apprehend the intended receiver of the ammunition while the suspects remain in custody.
