A Nigerian female flight attendant has cried out over the hike in price of local flight ticket across the country.
The lady, in a post on her Tik handle, @goldherself_01, accused the local airline operators of extorting Nigerians.
She disclosed how one of her friends was charged N840,000 for a one-hour flight.
Also attached to her video was a Lagos-Owerri bound flight ticket with a hiked price of N499,998.95.
The air hostess called on the Federal Government and Ministry of Aviation’s intervention over the hike.
She also charged Nigerian to speak up and reject what has become a perpetual culture of the airline operators during the yuletide season.
“This is wickedness and exploitation at its highest form. This is greed. I am calling on the Senate. I am calling on the Minister of Aviation and the Federal Government.
“They should please look into these airlines.
“Why are we not speaking of every December we keep facing and swallowing this? How can a one-hour flight be N500,000?
“I have a friend of mine that booked his ticket for 23rd of December and he paid N840,000. We are Nigerians. That we have the hustling mentality and spirit does not mean we should swallow every rubbish been given to us.
“Enough is enough! This is wickedness and exploitation.’ She said.
The air hostess further accused the airline operators of greed as she questioned reason behind the hike despite the stable cost of aviation fuel, Jet A1.
She also accused the operators of indirectly pushing Nigerians who cannot afford the exorbitant fee into the hands of kidnappers as most would be forced to travel by road if the price is not reduced.
“These people are not being sensitive to the situation. There is a whole lot of insecurity, kidnapping on the road. And I’m sure everybody is trying to buy ticket to travel to avoid being kidnapped.
“Yet these airlines are not helping issues. They are just being greedy. These people use jet A1 fuel. This fuel did not increase in price nor demand.
“Yet, this flight fares are skyrocketing. The flight fare are so exorbitant.
“How can an average Nigerian afford this kind of flight fare? I’m a flight attendant. I can decide to wear my uniform and my ID card and fly for free. But I will not shut my mouth or keep my eyes closed because I have that privilege.
“Why are we not speaking up? Why is the Twitter not blowing up? Why are we not tagging these people?
“If you can tag these people, repost this video, and send it to authorities, please send it.
“Coming back ticket in January is over N740,000. Why are we doing this to each other? Why do we always like to exploit each other as Nigerians?
“Why can’t we show love? Why can’t we be so considerate to the insecurity around? These people are indirectly sending us out there to be kidnapped.” She added.
