President Bola Tinubu has charged Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the forthcoming 2026 Osun gubernatorial election, to reclaim the state for the party.
Tinubu gave the charge while congratulating the former National Inland Water Authority (NIWA) Managing Director, over his emergence as the candidate of the party.
NPO Reported that Oyebamiji was declared the party’s flag bearer after emerging as consensus candidate at the conclusion of the Osun APC’s governorship primary held on Saturday in Osogbo.
Reacting to the development in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu urged the APC candidate to ensure victory for the party at the poll.
The President emphasised the need for the APC candidate to work towards reclaiming Osun for the progressives’ fold in the 2026 governorship election.
He praised the Osun APC for the unity and reconciliation that characterised the primary election conducted through affirmation.
Tinubu also commended all the aspirants who stepped down in support of Oyebamiji, describing the gesture as a demonstration of party loyalty and commitment.
He however urged Oyebamiji to be magnanimous in victory by embracing party leaders and former aspirants to sustain cohesion.
“The journey to reclaim Osun for the progressives’ fold in the 2026 governorship election has begun.
“I urge all the members and leaders of APC in the state to remain focused, united and resolute.
“Victory is achievable, and together, we will succeed,” he said.
