The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is currently holding a meeting with the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Samuel Anyanwu-led faction.
Amid the ongoing leadership crisis within the party, INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, had on Friday summoned both factions to the commission’s headquarters in Abuja ahead of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections as well as the Osun and Ekiti gubernatorial election slated to hold next year.
According to report, Amupitan had in his opening remark stated that the meeting was to try to understand why the commission was receiving correspondence from two groups claiming leadership of the PDP.
Journalists were however ushered out of the premises as the meeting goes behind close door.
