The 2023 Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has slammed President Bola Tinubu over his silence on the alleged manipulation of the tax law.
NPO Reported that Sokoto state lawmaker, Abdulsammad Dasuki, had on Wednesday raised alarm over alleged discrepancies spotted in the gazetted tax reform laws and the version passed by the National Assembly.
Dasuki had at the House of Assembly plenary session disclosed undergoing comparative analysis of the gazetted tax laws alongside the votes and proceedings of the green chamber as well as that of the Senate.
The lawmaker alleged that the gazetted copy which is currently on sale at the Ministry of Information, is completely inconsistent with what was passed.
This had sparked public reactions with critics calling out the Tinubu-led administration over the allegation.
Joining other dissenting voices in a post on his X handle on Saturday, Obi slammed Tinubu, describing the development as a national shame.
The former Anambra state governor accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government of forgery while faulting Tinubu’s silence.
He charged the President to account for the allegation, stressing that Nigerians need to know what was signed, passed, and recorded.
Obi further accused the Tinubu administration of budget padding while also faulting the introduction of a mandatory 20% deposit before appeals can be heard in court.
