Nigerian afrobeat singer, Davi Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has arrived at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Morocco, ahead of his performance at the opening ceremony of the 2025 African Cup of Nations ((AFCON) tournament.
Davido was last week shortlisted among the artists invited by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to perform at the event.
The Nigerian and global icon was selected alongside the likes of French Montana, Moroccan singer Douaa Lahyaoui, French-Moroccan hitmaker Lartiste and emerging talent Says’z.
While the opening ceremony had commenced with a concert at the Olm Souissi Fan Zone in Rabat on Saturday, Davido’s performance slated to hold today by 6:30pm is part of the tournament’s curtain raiser before Morocco takes on Comoros for the first match of the tournament.
The event will mark one of Davido’s many performances during sporting events.
Recall that he also performed at the 2017 AFCON opening ceremony, the 2022 FIFA World Cup draw held in Doha, and the 2023 Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) awards.
