Apologises to Nigerians over Super Eagles’ World Cup Ticket Loss

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has apologised to Nigerians over the national team’s 2026 World Cup ticket loss while describing the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) as an opportunity for the team to regains the fans and Nigerians trust.
Osimhen made this known in an interview with Nigerian photojournalist, Pooja Media, at the Super Eagles camp in Morocco on Sunday.
Speaking on the expectation from the team ahead of their tournament’s opening game against Tanzania on Tuesday, the Galatasaray striker admitted that the expectation is high both within the camp and amongst the fans.
He however maintained that there is no pressure within the camp as he expressed confidence in the team’s quality.
“The expectation is really high, not just within the camp but also from the Super Eagles camp all over the world.
“I think in as much as the expectation is high, there is no pressure among my teammates, myself and also the coach because we know the kind of quality we possess.
“This AFCON is an opportunity for us to right our wrong and make the Super Eagles fans all over the world believe that there is so much more that we can give.” He said.
While apologising over the World Cup ticket opportunity loss to DR Congo, Osimhen assured Super Eagles’ fans of the team’s readiness to fight for every game and try to reach the 2025 AFCON final.
“We have to use the opportunity to say we are so sorry for not getting the World Cup ticket and all the disappointment in the faces of all Nigerian fans.
“For us, life has happened and we have to keep on moving. This AFCON is an opportunity for us do well and try to make sure that we win the tournament.
“Of course it’s not going to be easy. We have to fight for every game. We have to try to win every game and see if we can get to the final.” He added.
