At least nine people have been confirmed dead with 10 others injured in a fatal accident along Jama’are-Azare road, Bauchi state.
This was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Bauchi Sector Commander, Apaji Boyi.
According to Apaji, a commercial bus with Registration number KTG181 ZZ conveying 19 passengers, and travelling from Gombe to Kano state, crashed at about 6.20a.m.
He added that it took the corps’ personnel barely 10 minutes to arrive at the crash scene to help clear the site.
Boyi, who attributed the cause of the crash to speed limit violation, fatigue and loss of control, added that the injured were taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Azare, for medical attention.
He also said that the corpses of the deceased were deposited at the morgue of the same medical facility.
“19 persons were involved in the fatal road crash and nine of them lost their lives on the spot, while 10 sustained serious injuries,” he said.
The FRSC boss advised motorists to always be conscious of traffic rules and regulations while on the wheel.
He noted that the FRSC would not relent sensitising motorists about traffic rules, signs and regulations in the state.
