The Kwara State Government has described the late Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Bashiru Solihu, as a role model for the entire Muslim Ummah in Nigeria.
The Special Adviser to the State Government, Alhaji Saadu Salaudeen, said this at the Babatunde Idiagbon Airport, Ilorin, while leading a government delegation to receive the remains of the deceased from Abuja.
Salaudeen described the late Chief Imam, as a globally renowned Islamic scholar, noting that he was a man of impeccable character and proven integrity.
“He was someone the entire faithful will greatly miss; He truly personified the teachings of Islam, he was generous, passionate about peaceful coexistence between Muslims and non-Muslims, and committed to unity,” he said.
He condoled the Emir of Ilorin, the Kwara State Council of Ulama, and the entire people of the Ilorin Emirate over the loss.
Also speaking, the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Sen. Salihu Mustapha, described the late Chief Imam as a great and straightforward man.
According to him, the Ilorin community and the world at large, have lost a kind, pious and loving human being.
He prayed the Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Aljannah Firdaus.
Similarly, the Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Muyideen Hassan, described the late Sheikh Solihu as a kind-hearted leader, under whose leadership many Islamic scholars were uplifted.
He also extended his condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Council of Ulama, and the entire Ilorin Emirate. NAN
