Protesters have stormed Lagos major roads in agitation against alleged land grabbing and forceful eviction by the state government.
The protesters had on Wednesday trooped out in numbers to express their displeasure and frustration over the activities of the state government on land-related issues.
Videos shared on X showed the mammoth crowd marching along the Obafemi Awolowo Way with those at the forefront form a human chain as chants rented the air.
Ahead of the demonstration, the Lagos State Police Command had deployed its personnel across strategic areas, especially in the capital city, Ikeja, as the protesters appeared to be marching down to the Lagos State Government House in Alausa.
The protest emerged the latest demonstration by residents who had in the past few months witnessed their house demolished by the state government and evacuated from their residence.
NPO Reported that the state government had last year embarked on series of demolition exercise in several parts of the state, especially the Oworonshoki area where scores of houses were pulled down.
This was met with agitations by members of the community.
They initially staged a protest along Third Mainland bridge, obstructing traffic flow before being forcefully dispersed by police operatives.
