At least, three delegates for the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party in Niger State have been shot dead.
Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who is the chairman of the primaries/electoral committee stated this at the party secretariat in Minna. They were reportedly killed on their way back to Mariga after the party announced a postponement of the primaries. After the electoral committee recieved information over the shooting of the three at a village between Mariga and Tegina, the committee replaced the names of the delegates to make up for the shortfall. NPO Reports learnt that the delegates were killed by bandits operating along the route. Police are said to have launched manhunt for the bandits.
