No fewer than four kidnapped victims have been rescued by operatives attached to the Delta State Police Command.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe.
According to Edafe, the victims were abducted along Ewu-Ajekuta Road by five suspected kidnappers who attacked the Toyota Sienna vehicle conveying them.
Following a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer in Otu-Jeremi immediately mobilised operatives.
The Police, in a coordinated oepration alongside sister security agencies and members of the Ewu community, successfully rescued all four victims unhurt.
While they were taken to a hospital for medical attention, the security operatives recovered two expended 7.5 millimetre ammunition at the scene.
Edafe disclosed that a manhunt is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
In a separate operation, operatives attached to the Ibusa Division, raided a suspected cult meeting at Anioma Garden in Ugboli Quarters, Ibusa.
One suspect, identified as Michael Ayauze, was arrested during the raid conducted on the 3rd of February.
Preliminary investigations revealed he is a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
Items recovered from the suspect include one English Beretta pistol, one live round of ammunition, and assorted charms. Other suspects reportedly escaped and are currently being trailed by the Police.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Aina Adesola, reassured residents of the Command’s resolve to deal decisively with kidnapping, cultism, and other violent crimes.
He however urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with useful information.
