The National Secretary of the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, has declared the faction’s takeover of the party’s National Headquarters.
Anyanwu made this known while addressing newsmen on Thursday after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) consultative meeting which had the Abdulrahman-led faction of the PDP in attendance.
The PDP National Secretary reiterated that Abdulrahman faction remains the only recognised national leadership of the party which according to him was affirmed by last week ruling by the Federal High Court in Ibadan, Oyo state.
“In our party, we have no problem. We have no faction. We have just one PDP under the leadership of my Chairman Honourable Abdulrahman Mohammed.
“Last week Friday, the Federal High Court made it very clear that the problem of PDP is over because the so-called convention of Novemember 15 and 16 2025 is a nullity and that no other person should parade themselves as a member of the National Working Committee of the party.
“The onl recognised body of PDP that has the full power to speak for the party is the National Working Committee lead by Honourable Abdulrahman Mohammed.” He said.
Anyanwu thereafter revealed that the faction will take over the PDP’s Wadata Plaza next week Monday.
“Remember that the police sealed the place and the other group went to court to ask police to open. But the matter was dismissed.
“By Monday, we are taking over the office.” He said.
On the reaction of the party members over the ongoing leadership crisis, Anyanwu held that the members are happy with the Abdulrahman leadership, adding that their concern over the chances of the party fielding candidates for the forthcoming elections have been resolved.
“The party members are very happy because those who are afraid that PDP will not have candidate in the next coming election is now settled that the party will field candidate.” He added.
