Dr Olusola Odumosu, the FCT Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has warned operatives not to harass any voter during the FCT Area Council Election.
Odumosu gave the charge on Saturday while speaking with deployed personnel at the NSCDC FCT Command headquarters.
He charged personnel to be professional in the discharge of their duty, emphasising that accidental discharge remained highly prohibited in the corps.
“On no account should any personnel be seen assisting a voter as that is not allowed, hence you are to remain non-partisan.
“Our job is to ensure the protection of electorates, sensitive and non-sensitive materials and the voters who are out to discharge their rights.
“The idea is to ensure the election is fair and credible as your job is to provide security,” he said.
The commandant charged operatives to arrest anyone caught causing mayhem to the electoral process, and to avoid compromise of any kind.
Odumosu reiterated that 4,000 officers and men have been deployed to polling units across the territory to ensure adequate protection.
He further tasked personnel to work in synergy with sister agencies, stating that the common goal was to ensure a hitch-free area council election in the FCT.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the commandant alongside tactical operatives are currently conducting security surveillance across the FCT. NAN
