The United States Embassy in Abuja has cancelled all visa appointments scheduled for Wednesday over planned protest at the Nigerian capital city.
This was announced in a statement issued on the embassy’s official X handle today.

It however urged the applicants to monitor its website and social media channele for updates.
“Due to the potential for protests in Abuja, the U.S. Embassy in Abuja has cancelled all visa appointments on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
“Applicants will be contacted with information on how to reschedule. Please monitor our website and social media channels for further updates.
“For emergency assistance, please contact the U.S. Embassy at +234 209 461 4328 or visit the website.
“Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.” The statement read.
The planned protest is largely based on agitiations against the Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, over his N205 million debt saga with Nigerian businesswoman, Traceynither Ohiri.
While the US Embassy is unlikely to be affected by the protest, the embassy’s fear had however stemmed out of theĀ intensifying conflict in the Middle East.
The United States and allied forces, including Israel, have launched extensive air and missile strikes against targets in Iran, killing the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khameni.
This had triggered retaliatory attacks on US military bases and embassies across the Gulf region.
