The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed the planned inauguration of newly elected state executives following the death of the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the party, Yesiro Karamo.
NPO Reported that Yesiro died on Wednesday, barely 24 hours after he attended the Lagos State APC congress held at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan, Lagos, on Tuesday, where he was elected Assistant Publicity Secretary.
His tragic demise had stalled the inauguration ceremony scheduled to hold today.
While confirming the development in a statement issued on Thursday, the Lagos APC Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, described Yesiro’s death as a painful and tragic loss.
Oladejo hailed his late deputy for his dedication and loyalty.
“The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress received with profound shock and deep sorrow the news of the sudden demise of our newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro.
“Yesiro’s passing is a painful and tragic loss to our great party at a time when his energy, commitment, and passion for progressive politics were most needed.
“Having just been entrusted with the responsibility of serving in the State Executive Council, he embodied dedication, loyalty, and an unwavering belief in the ideals of our party.” The statement read.
Meanwhile, some party stalwarts and supporters who were unaware of the Yesiro’s demise had arrived at the party secretariat in Acme, Ogba, on Thursday morning for the planned inauguration.
Following the realisation of the development, the party leaders reportedly left the secretariat to pay a condolence visit to the family of the deceased while some party stalwarts subsequently circulated information that the inauguration of the excos had been shifted till Friday.
