A United States-based Nigerian Professor, Omolade Adunbi, has called for the arrest of Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, over her controversial deliverance session with a female student.
Dikeh had on Friday posted a now viral video of the deliverance held during an evangelical outreach at a secondary school in Edo State.
The actress was captured in the video firmly holding the head of the girl with other members of her team pinning her on the ground as she shuddered under their grips.
This had seen Dikeh come under heavy backlash from netizens.
Joining the dissenting voices, Adunbi called for the arrest and prosecution of the actress.
The Professor of Anthropology and Afroamerican and African Studies and Director of the African Studies Center at the University of Michighan questioned Dikeh’s decision to perform such act in a public school and not in an elite school.
Adunbi accused actress of preying on the poor and most vulnerable, stressing that she had only traumatised the girl as against the deliverance claim.
“This is pathetic. Why didn’t she go to an elite school to perform her miracle?
“These people like preying on the poor and most vulnerable in society for their nonsense.
“She has just traumatized an innocent lady, and this will live with her forever and she will also be the butt of jokes among her classmates and those who may see this video. She should be arrested and prosecuted for this.” The university don said.
