The Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fired back at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, over his claim that the PDP is no longer a political party to reckon with in Nigeria.
NPO Reported that Morka had in an interview on Arise TV’s Morning Show earlier on Monday said the opposition party can longer call itself a party as it is utterly dysfunctional with nothing to offer its members.
Morka stated this while defending the mass defection of state governors to the APC.
He held that the governors decided to join the ruling party out of their own will while reiterating that the PDP can no longer offer its members any credible platform to pursue their political aspirations because of its internal dysfunctions.
Reacting in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the Turaki-led faction of the PDP slammed Morka over the statement which it considered unfortunate and clear indication that the ruling party is delusional.
The PDP maintained that the APC has consistently rejected by Nigerians alleging that many state governors copied database of empowerment programmes held in their repsective states to populate the party’s membership register.
“This statement is most unfortunate and a clear indication that Morka and his cohorts are clearly delusional. Interestingly, reality shows that despite the large-scale defections secured by force and inducement by the APC, Nigerians have consistently rejected the ruling party which is daily ruining Nigeria and Nigerians.
“This is evident in the struggle their party has had with membership registration, where in many states governors have copied the database of state empowerment programmes to populate their state registers.” The statement partly read.
Ememobong also cited the recent disruption of the City Boys event in Owerri, Imo state, labelling it a foreshadow of what awaits the APC all over the country.
The PDP’s spokesperson further compared Morka to Nazi regime’s chief propagandist, Joseph Goebbels, stressing that the APC’s scribe is defending what it labelled ‘political genocide’ carried out by President Bola Tinubu.
“For Morka, who is struggling to become a modern-day Joseph Goebbels, he should remember that delusional propaganda does not just destroy a nation but ultimately consumes its proponents, as it did in Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler.
“His defence of the political genocide of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu APC-led Federal Government, is akin to Goebbels’ defence of Hitler’s pogroms and concentration camps.
“We can assure Morka and his ilk in the ruining APC government that when the history of this period is written and the mortal threat to democracy is documented, his name will be boldly written in the pages of infamy as one of those who actively defended the Tinubu maladministration.” The statement read further.
