The Borno State Police Command has deployed its Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit from Base 13, Maiduguri, to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) and the Monday Market following multiple explosions at the area.
NPO Reported that multiple explosions had around 7:20pm on Monday rocked the popular market and several other locations in the area.
The attack, as confirmed in a statement issued by the Borno Police Command’s spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso, were carried out by suspected suicide bombers and had left at least 23 dead with over 100 injured.
In the wake of the attacks, Daso said joint security operatives and emergency responders were swiftly deployed to the scene to assess the situation and ensure public safety.
She added the deployment of the bomb squad who were already on the ground, shortly after the incident, conducting necessary checks and assessments.
The spokesperson urged residents to remain calm and avoid the area while security agencies continue their operations.
