A Lagos-based man has called for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s intervention over the high level of extortion in beaches across the state.
The fun-seeker, in a video shared on X on Wednesday, decried the exorbitant fees charged for the usage of beach, especially in Lekki area of the state.
Apart from the N2,000 gate fee collected from visitors, the man, who spoke in Pidgin English, disclosed that they were further charged N10,000 each for access into the beach.
This, according to him, does not include other subtle fees charged for usage of some of the beach’s facilities.
“Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and all of una wey dey operate beach for this Lekki, if una no want make poor man come beach, make God sef even dry the beach.
“To enter main gate for beach, you go pay N2,000. If you con enter inside the beach, you go con dey pay N10,000.
“So, if you carry like 20 people go beach, just ready your N200,000.” He said.
The fun seeker held that the fees are getting unbearable and will deny children of common men the opportunity to visit the beaches.
He also raised alarm over the cost of drinks at the beaches as he disclosed that his wife brought a bottle of water for N2,000.
“Poor men children no go fit go for excursion for beach again for free gift of nature. If you still con manage enter the beach , to sit down, dem go tell you to pay.
“No be say naso una dey sell drink for normal price inside the beach.
“My wife buy water for here, N2,000 for water! No be say na inside club wey get AC or anything. Wetin happen!
“The extortion too much. Na natural thing. Make God kuku dry the beach make everybody rest.” He said.
