Says Plot Is Over His Caution Against Igboho’s Threats to Opposition Parties
- Safiu Kehinde
Ibadan-based TikToker, Wale Aburumaku, popularly known as Funny Thinker, has revealed alleged plot by controversial businessman and self-acclaimed Yoruba interests advocate, Sunday Igboho, to abduct him.
Funny Thinker made the allegation in a video shared on his TikTok handle on Friday.
The social media influencer had in the video released a WhatsApp voice note allegedly recorded by one of the loyalists of Igboho.
As heard in the voice note recorded in Yoruba, the self-acclaimed activist ordered one of his loyalists to ensure that Funny Thinker and one Baba Alado are both captured and brought to him.
“Hello Adebas. Ensure you bring both Alado and Funny Thinker to my residence here in Ibadan within 24 hours. If you fail to provide them within the next 24 hours, I can’t say exactly what will happen between me and you.” The voice alleged to belong to Igboho had said in the audio clip.
Funny Thinker disclosed receiving the clip days after cautioning Igboho against threatening opposition parties from campaigning in Yorubaland.
The Yoruba activist had in a viral video shared across social media last week warned the 2023 Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, from staging any campaign in Yorubaland ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Igboho declared that the South West belongs to President Bola Tinubu and are fully behind his re-election bid.
“Asiwaju for second term. After the eight years, we will beg God to give him additional two years. Anyone of you who think he or she is crazy should dare bring one Atiku or Obi to Yorubaland.” The activist had threatened in the clip.
Reacting in a video recorded in Yoruba and posted on his TikTok handle last week Tuesday, Funny Thinker slammed the former Yoruba Nation agitator.
“Oloye Sunday Igboho, if Tinubu freed you, it is only you that he freed, not us. I appreciate the fact that you are trying to repay your benefactor. But for you to be threatening Atiku or Obi supporters, are you the one feeding us in Yorubaland?
“How big is your influence on the entire Yorubaland? Is it just within your Igboho base or you think you’re influential here in Ibadan? Even Tinubu cannot make such statement.” He said.
The TikToker maintained that the beauty of democracy is competition which he claimed the President understands.
He had in the video warned Igboho against implicating Tinubu with his threats.
“Competition is the beauty of democracy. Watch what you say and do not implicate Tinubu with your boasts and threats.
“Are you the owner of Yorubaland? Is it not this same Yorubaland that we are all in? So, who appointed you as the tribe’s spokesman that made you think you can speak on our behalf?” He asked.
While declaring his dislike for Peter Obi, Funny Thinker however maintained that the former Anambra governor has the right to campaign anywhere he desires.
“Of course, I don’t like Obi. But that doesn’t imply that he has no right to campaign anywhere he wants. For what you said, I will start campaigning for Obi. Let’s see what you are going to do about it.
“How big is Igboho from the entire Yorubaland?
“Of course, I don’t like Obi and that is my personal decision. But it doesn’t mean someone will start imposing Tinubu on me. Competition is the beauty of democracy. If you don’t know before, you better know now.” Funny Thinker said.
The TikToker would however cry out on his latest video posted yesterday as he recounted how Igboho had ordered some of his followers to hunt him and Baba Alado down.
“Firstly, an accused must not keep quiet lest he will be found guilty. Concerning our case against Monday Igbo Ora, I got an intel now that Alado has been tracked to his house.
“You don’t need to be looking for Alado because he is not the one who offended you. I am the one who offended you.
“And I, who you accused of offending you, when you started reaching out to people to call me, I said I had only corrected you on what you said. I did not violate any law by doing that.
“You are the one who violated the law by threatening people against campaigning for Atiku or Obi.
“The constitution of this country permits anybody, particularly politicians, to campaign anywhere he so wishes,” he said.
Funny Thinker further disclosed how Igboho reported him to some prominent personalities, including gospel singer Yinka Ayefele, who allegedly pressured the TikToker to make another video to appease Igboho.
“When you claimed that my post upset you, you reported me to some elders who I respect, especially Dr. Yinka Ayefele.
“He called me and I asked him if that is what the law says.
“He told me to just make the apology video and the issue would end.” He said.
While accepting to record the video, Funny Thinker disclosed that Igboho rejected the apology as he insisted that he must appear before him in person.
“Meanwhile, Alado was also calling me the same time I was speaking with Dr. Ayefele.
“If you watch the apology video careful, you will notice that I never intended to do it because I only corrected Igboho.
“It was up to six days after that Alado called me again that Igboho said he is not accepting the apology video until I appear before him in person.” He said.
The TikToker charged Igboho to rather take him to court or report him to the police than threatening Alado.
Meanwhile, efforts by the NPO Reports’ Correspondent to get Ayefele’s statement over his alleged involvement in the case proved abortive as his phone contact was unreachable.
The musician is also yet to respond to text message sent to him by our correspondent over the case.
However, Funny Thinker informed NPO Reports that he reported the case to the police when asked for update on the situation.
