No fewer than 13 people has been shot dead as suspected bandits invaded a wedding ceremony at Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
The bandits reportedly stormed the venue of the event around 11:47pm on Sunday turning a joyous celebration to a horrific scene as they opened fire on the guests.
An eyewitness who recounted the incident to Daily Trust on Monday said several people who sustained bullet injuries were rushed to Kagarko General Hospital, adding that two other victims with severe injuries were taken to Kaduna.
“In fact, there are two of my friends who were inside the hall that also sustained bullet injuries during the attack,”he said.
“But one cannot ascertain the number of those that were kidnapped because of the sporadic shootings.” The eyewitness said.
A community leader in the village who pleaded anonymity identified guests murdered at the event as Bako Danjuma, Williams Luka, Peter Williams, Joseph Yakubu, Victor Peter, and John Dan Asabe.
Others include Angulu Markus, Maikano Aribi, Douglas John, Ado Yakubu, Zaphaniah Alhaji, Joseph Kaddah and Francis Unguwa Doya.
However, no official statement has been issued by the state government to confirm the incident.
Effort to reach out to the Kaduna State Police Command by NPO Reports correspondent also proved abortive as the command’s spokesperson is not responsive to call.
