Lagos State National Union of Road Transport Workers’ (NURTW) Chairman, Mustapha Adekunle Adio, popularly known as Sego, has sent tongues waggling with his distribution of exotic jeeps and other relief items to members of his cabinet and the general public.
Sego was reported to have extended the kind gestures to the beneficiaries as part of an initiative aimed at supporting President Bola Tinubu’s second term ambition while also celebrating his 74th birthday.
Video shared on Instagram on Tuesday showed the rows of exotic Toyota jeeps parked at the NURTW secretariat in Agege area of Lagos.
Members of the union who trooped into the secretariat marveled at the sight of the cars decorated with ribbons and balloons.
Meanwhile, one of the Lagos NURTW chieftains harped on the need for the members to get and revalidate the Permanent Voters’ Card (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
“For those of us who are yet to get our PVCs, I implore you to do so. For those who have their PVCs, it doesn’t stop there.
“There is something INEC called revalidation. We all must go out when they start the revalidation to revalidate our PVC.
“If you have PVC and do not revalidate it, you won’t be able to vote.” He said.
The NURTW official also expressed his delight with the transformation in the conduct of transport workers over the years.
“We are excited that a new dawn has met the union. In the National Union of Road Transport Workers, there is no more hooliganism, killings, and violent attacks.” He added.
However, the video showing the fleet of vehicles donated to the NURTW officials had sparked mixed reactions from netizens.
