The kidnapped Prelate of the Methodist Church in Nigeria, Samuel Kanu, has regained his freedom.
He was kidnapped on Sunday May 29 in Abia State, South-East region of the country.
The Christian Association of Nigeria, the umbrella body of Christian faithful, had called on President Muhamadu Buhari to order deployment of all security agencies to ensure his release.
It was not clear if any ransom was paid to get him out of the kidnappers’ den.
His church had issued a statement after his kidnap saying, “His Eminence, Samuel Kanu, is a peace-loving Christian leader. His abduction came as a shock.”
The statement was issued by the Very Rev Nosakhare Nosayaba of Abuja’s Methodist Cathedral of Unity.
His kidnapping had heightened tension in the country in the face of several cases
That have rendered the security agencies perplexed.
