Accuses Sahara Reporters Publisher of Hijacking Charley Boy’s Protest

Human rights activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has accused fellow activist and Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, of using protest for fundraising business.
VDM in a video shared on X on Wednesday claimed Sowore has no plan to run for presidency.
He labelled the #EndBadGovernance protest as his #RevolutionNow movement as sustainable scheme to continue his business.
“As you all know, Omoyele Sowore has run for the office of the President twice. But the truth is this, Omoyele Sowore does not want to be the President of Nigeria as he made the people believe.
“He has never planned to be the President of Nigeria in his life because Omoyele Sowore is in business. He is in what I call fundraising business.
“Now think about it this way, somebody that has never taken any office in Nigeria before just go straight say he wan become President. Does it work like that?
“Na now you go understand the game wey the guyman dey play. And he will continue playing this game because he has place himself there.
“All these protest he does- #EndBadGovernance Protest, #RevolutionNow, are just a sustainable scheme to continue in his business.” VDM said.
The activist recalled how Sowore came into Nigeria’s political space in 2018, alleging that the publisher hijacked the #OurMumuDonDo protest orchestrated against the late Muhammadu Buhari administration by legendary Nigerian entertainer, Charley Boy.
VDM labelled Sowore a con artist, stressing that he took advantage of Nigerians grievances and desperation.
“In 2018 when he showed his interest to become the President, like I said, Omoyele Sowore took advantage of the crowd that was already established by the likes of Charley Boy using #OurMumuDonDo because Charley Boy protested against Buahri’s government 2016 to the end of 2017.
“The beginning of 2018 was when Omoyele Sowore came. By this time, a lot of youths were against the Buhari government already. They hated the Buhari government because of the hardship.
“So, Omoyele Sowore just came from nowhere and said he wants to become the President.
“Nobody bothered to investigate him. Nobody cared if he had a structure. Nobody cared about what he has ever done to Nigeria before because they were desperate for a saviour.
“This is what Omoyele Sowore took advantage of.
“He studied all of these. He understood it before he came from abroad, Like I said, he never planned to become the President because he is a con artist.” He said.
On the Sahara Reporters publisher’s criticism of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, and the 2023 Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, VDM alleged that Sowore only engage in the criticism in order to maintain his relevance.
He reiterated that the activist ha no plan to become the President while questioning the achievement that his protests have ever recorded.
“This interview wey he go do where he go insult Alex Otti say Alex Otti no dey work, Peter Obi bad, and everybody because he needs to have a talk so that he can continue his business.
“Omoyele Sowore insulting Alex Otti is not because he hates him. It is because Omoyele Sowore needs to be in business. That is why he picks individuals that people like.
“There is a reason why he does that. Not because he cares. The protest, he doesn’t care. That is why over the years, you cannot point to one thing to say this is what Omoyele Sowore’s protest has achieved.
“Someone who just woke up in the morning to say he want to become a President and there is no record or reference to anything he has done in the country like when I was a local government chairman, governor, or Senator, this is what I did.
“There is no track record because Omoyele Sowore never planned to become the President. He has never planned to become the President. That is why he has no structure politically. He has no plan and no team for all of this.” VDM added.
