A self-acclaimed Northern Islamic cleric who placed N1 million bounty on a Pastor’s head has raised public eyebrow and concern as he reaffirmed to threat to get the clergyman beheaded over alleged blasphemy.
The yet-to-be identified cleric had last week surfaced online with a video of him promising to pay anyone who bring him head of the undisclosed Pastor a sum of N1 million.
Speaking in Hausa, the cleric had in the video vowed to increase the money for anyone who can get him the head of the Pastor.
He would again reaffirm his resolve in a new video which had since gone viral.
As seen in the clip shared on X on Tuesday, the cleric reiterated his promise of N1 million reward to whoever can bring him the head of the Pastor.
“I still stand by the contract I have that whoever can behead the pastor who insulted the prophet of God will get one million naira.
“I swear to Almighty God I will fulfill my plea. No going back l, and as the pastor is a very useless man.” He allegedly said as transcribed by Sahara Reporters.
Another transcription of the video had the cleric claiming that Arewa has nothing to lose over the death of the clergyman even if it results to chaos.
“Whoever fulfills that requirement (beh3ading the pastor), I swear to Allah I’ll give him that money (one million naira), no retreat… we have nothing to lose if after beh3ading this pastor Arewa plunges into chaos.” He was quoted to have said.
The re-emergence of the cleric with his threat had however sparked mixed reactions as members of the public called for his arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies.
Some however demanded the summon of the Pastor as they claimed the clergyman had also repeatedly made blasphemous remarks against Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W), prompting the cleric’s call for his head.
“With people like him on the pulpits, the fight against terrorism in the North might never end. This kind of madness must be stopped. The most difficult part of it is that this ideology is so popular in the North that even the political heads would never dare try to stop it or speak against it. It is crazy.”@IdrisAOni
“The useless government that could not caution a so called Pastor that used his gutter mouth to insult Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)? We are quick to go after the reaction and not the cause.”@cutesummas
“Sincerely he crossed the red line and so far most clerics are boldly calling for his arrest, so I expect the government to do the needful by arresting that criminals who was paid to stroke the blasphemous words. We should learn to respect each other and that will lead to peace”@Bin_DaudNG
“Some of you all are hypocrites. Where were you when the pastor was making those blasphemous speeches. He knew what will come up against him but he still decides to go ahead. Make everybody face their religion and see if they won’t be peace”@khamalMusah
“If this imam is allowed by the @OfficialDSSNG and @PoliceNG to go Scot free, then get ready to behead more people.”@Newthing4real
“I dare the security agencies to arrest the imam. No man in Nigeria or in the entire world will do such thing to be alive. This is the redlines”@Nuraddenchanji
“You are a big hypocrite. You rushed to post about the imam calling for the beheading of the pastor, but you didn’t say anything about the root cause. If the authorities don’t take action against the pastor who insulted our Prophet, then whatever happens it’s their responsibility.”@toller_1
“Imagine fighting and killing for God in big 2026. I think God would find a way to punish whoever offended him. not people threatening to kill in the name of God”@Tollulopee
“These are the kind of animals that stand on pulpit to give very demonic sermons on Fridays or any other day. How then will insurgency and terrorism end. This kind of doctrine should be completely frowned at by everyone who truly desire peace for the North and Nigeria as whole.”@Hayour_deyjee
“In a stable society this man shouldn’t have had the opportunity to reiterate his earlier statement before being arrested.”@Obalola213
