Nigerian businessman, Linus Ifejika, popularly known as BLord, has been granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja after spending over two weeks in Kuja prison.
NPO Reported that Ifejika was earlier this month remanded over the case filed against him by Nigerian social media influence and activists, Martin Vincent Otse. popularly known as VeryDarkMan.
VDM, as he is fondly called, had dragged Ifejika to court over charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, impersonation, and alleged unauthorised use of the image of the social media critic.
The businessman would however appear in court on Friday for the hearing of his bail application.
Ifejika. who was joined at the court by human rights activists, Omoyele Sowore, was eventually granted bail by the court.
While confirming the development, VDM’s lawyer, Marshall Abubakar, expressed his gratitude to human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, over his intervention in the case as he disclosed that VDM has agreed to resolve the matter out-of-court.
“The much-awaited bail of our brother and friend has been granted.
“We must commend our leader here, Omoyele Sowore.
“We must also appreciate VeryDarkMan for receding to see that this matter is solved amicably. He has assured the world and even the constitution that he willing to settle this matter.” He said.
Abubakar however admitted that VDM’s arraignment of BLord is justifiable considering the gravity of the criminal act done by the businessman.
“The fact cannot be denied that VeryDarkMan was offended as far as this matter is concerned.
“You do not offend a man in Africa and tell the man to do his worst. As far as the matter is concerned, VeryDarkMan was offended.
“And as a law-abiding citizen of this country, has the right to approach the police and the court system.
“We don’t want to dwell on what has happened in the past. We are now going to resolve this matter amicably.” Abubakar added.
