A viral video of a suspected thug physically assaulting a tricycle operator over toll fee in a Lagos estate has again raised concern over the menace of hoodlums” assault of public transport workers in the state.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday at Thomas Estate along Ado-Road, Ajah area of Lagos.
As seen the video shared on Instagram, the hoodlum, armed with a plank, confronted the tricycle operator who was on a trip to deliver some items for a resident of the estate.
He was alleged to have demanded a toll fee from the operator before allowing him to pass.
Clash would however break out between the duo after the tricycle operators refused to pay the fee.
This drew the attention of passersby who attempted to resolve the issue.
The armed hoodlum however ignored the pleas as he was seen charging towards the tricycle operator and engaging him in a brawl.
This had sparked outrage from netizens with calls for the need to address the hoodlums’ extortion of transport workers across Lagos state.
Meanwhile, some netizens slammed the person who recorded the video as he was heard urging others not to intervene in the brawl between the two men.
“Someone’s hustling with Keke he collected on higher purchase! Tinubu’s thugs intercepted him to extort money!😢 Sometimes when I see what’s going on within Nigeria,I’m always scared to visit! Anytime we in the diaspora are visiting Nigeria, it’s like we are going to a warzone!”@gbengameyun21
