The 2027 General Election’s politicking has tampered with the emotion of a Kwara State House of Assembly aspirant, Abdulrasheed Arikewuyo, who broke down in tears over alleged removal of his name from aspirants’ list.
Arikewuyo, who is contesting for Ilorin Central Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), had in a video shared on X on Tuesday burst into tears as he alleged being sidelined.
Speaking in Yoruba, the embattled aspirant recounted how he was informed about the development from the state’s secretariat while submitting his letter of intention.
“I went to submit my letter of intention today. After submitting the letter, they called me back. Alhaji Mustapha called me and asked for my name. I told him.
“He later informed me that my name was not submitted from Ilorin West.
“He said my name is not among those forwarded for House of Assembly.” Arikewuyo said.
The aspirant claimed to have submitted his letter at the ward level.
His name was however omitted from the list submitted to the secretariat.
Arikewuyo broke down in tear as he demanded reason behind the omission
“I’ve submitted the letter at ward level with the chairman calling me that they’ve instructed them to submit the names at local level. Why was my name then removed?
“If I had not been called from the state that I should resend my name, I would have been working in vain.
“They removed my name because I didn’t have anyone despite my struggles at the party.” He said.
The video had since sparked mixed reactions from netizens with some trolling the aspirant.
