Hundreds of supporters have on Thursday stormed the Ibadan Airport ahead of the arrival of the former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu.
NPO Reported that Adelabu had earlier today tendered his resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu days after submitting a comprehensive report on his stewardship of the power sector over the past two and a half years.
The ex-minister had in the letter declared interest in running for the 2027 Oyo Governorship Election.
Though his resignation is billed to take effect on April 30, he however appeared to be leaving Abuja for Oyo in pursuit of his governorship ambition.
The news of his resignation and possible arrival in Ibadan today had drawn crowd of supporters who stormed the airport to welcome him.
Video shared on X showed the crowd largely donning white T-shirts branded with Adelabu’s pictures.
Some could be seen with banners containing campaign messages on behalf of the former Minister of Power who eyes the Oyo state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket.
