Former Zamfara lawmaker, Sen. Kabir Marafa, has dumped the African Democratic Congress (ADC) weeks after defecting to the party from the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Marafa, alongside other top political leaders in Zamfara state, announced their defection from the ADC on Tuesday.
They have since switched allegiance, declaring the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) as their new party.
According to reports, Marafa cited internal disagreement as the reason behind his withdrawal from the ADC.
Some speculations however suggested that that the ex-lawmaker, who represented Zamfara Central Senatorial District, dumped the ADC after being denied governorship ticket.
Confirming the development, in a media post, the NDC National leader and founder, Senator Seriake Dickson welcomed the new members into the party and assured them of full support in achieving their political goals in Zamfara State.
Dickson reportedly pledged to carry all new entrants along in the party’s activities, stressing the importance of unity and inclusion in strengthening the party structure.
In an earlier remark, Marafa expressed appreciation for the warm reception extended to him and his supporters.
He thanked Dickson for the support and confidence shown in him.
Marafa maintained that his decision to join the party alongside others was based on the need for a more inclusive platform that aligns with their political aspirations.
