Shakirudeen Olushola Giwa, a Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has charged lawmaker Kayode Akiolu, to drop his arrogance after stepping down for him at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Primary Election.
While he had declared interest in the Lagos Island II Federal Constituency seat at the House of Representatives, Shakirudeen reportedly stepped down for the son of Lagos state monarch, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, at the party’s primary held on Saturday.
Addressing his supporters after announcing the decision, the governor’s aide urged them to accept the decision.
Shakirudeen maintained that he is the people’s favourite considering the level of stakeholders’ support he had in the build up to the election.
He however harped on the need to respect the party’s decision which backed Akiolu’s third term bid.
“This party keeps record. When out of 100, we have 98. Will two defeat 98? We’ve shown that we have the strength.
“Those who owned us said we know that if you go for election, you will beat him. That is okay for us.
“It means we are the people’s favourite. But once they speak with us, we need to listen because they are the ones who led us to where we are today.
“You known this is the local government of the state governor, we must not disappoint him.
“You also know this is where President Bola Tinubu came from. We must not disappoint him.
“We all need to calm down.” He said.
Shakirudeen thereafter charged Akiolu to drop his arrogance as he accused him of being stingy and threatening his supporters.
He held that it is the party that wins the primaries and not the lawmaker.
“However, we are using this opportunity to tell Kayode to go and change his attitude. Your attitude is bad. You are too arrogant and stingy. You bragging and threatening people.
“If you think you know police, we know them more than you do.
“Kayode Moshood Akiolu, go and drop your arrogancy. You are not the one that wins. It is the party.
“Drop your arrogancy and stop being stingy. Don’t bring disgrace to our party. We will support and vote for you.” Shakirudeen said.
