Former Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) chairmanship aspirant, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, has been named as running mate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.
Sonayon-James emergence as the party’s Deputy Governorship candidate to Hamzat was disclosed in a post shared on X on Saturday.
Though no official announcement has been made by the APC to confirm the development, the emergence of the party’s chieftain as Hamzat’s running had however been considered a welcome development by some members of the party.
According to reports, the APC’s Assistant State Woman Leader is widely recognised for her grassroots mobilisation, community development initiatives, and commitment to public service, particularly in the Badagry axis of Lagos State.
She hails from the royal family of Kweme Kingdom in Badagry West LCDA where she has established a strong presence in grassroots politics and community engagement.
Prior to her current role in the party, she served as Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture and Social Services in Badagry West LCDA.
