The support group of former Osun state deputy governor, Sen. Iyiola Omisore, has endorsed the re-election bid of the state governor, Ademola Adeleke.
The group endorsed the governor during his campaign kick-off ceremony in Osogbo on Tuesday.
Speaking on behalf of the supporters after being formally received into the party, the former Osun Commissioner for Education, Folorunsho Bamisayemi, recalled how they had suffered repeated defeat to Adeleke dueing their sojourn with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Bamisayemi, who was addressing the Accord supporters in Yoruba, assured Adeleke of another victory against the APC as he talked down any chances of the opposition party’s camdidate, Bola Oyebamiji, causing upset at the August election.
“When Adeleke was alone, he defeated us thrice. In 2017, Adeleke won nine out of 10 local governments. In 2018, he battered us again before we sought alternative.
“In 2022 he slammed us to the point we couldn’t get up again. We the supporters of Omisore are now with Adeleke and Accord.
“It was only in the Bible that David beat Goliath not in real life.
“We told them but they failed to listen. Adeleke is beyond someone you send a David to. He is a giant.” He said.
The former commissioner further recalled the disqualification of group’s principal, Omisore, by the APC who they considered a stronger opponent that Oyebamiji.
He expressed readiness to work with Adeleke and ensure his return for a second term.
Bamisayemi claimed the APC’s reliance on court’s order was borne out of fear for Adeleke.
“Let’s use Omisore instead. But they didn’t listen. They disqualified him and paired David against Goliath. Adeleke will emerge victorious. We will work towards his victory.
“Adeleke worked in Osun and hd deserves a second term.
“They are scared of the governor.
“He has defeated them on three occasions with a fourth one looming.
“That’s why they are looking for court order and disqualification.” He said.
