The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented Certificates of Return to winners of the bye-elections held on Saturday across Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo and Kano states.
NPO Reported that INEC had last week conducted bye-elections for vacant senatorial offices in Enugu, Nasarawa North, Ondo South, and Rivers South-East.
The bye-election which coincided with the Ekiti State Governorship election was also conducted for the Dawakin kudu/Warsaw federal constituency in Kano State and the Zuru State constituency in Kebbi State.
Sequel to the conclusion of the poll and declaration of winners, INEC on Tuesday issued the Certificates of Return to the winners.
According to statement issued on the commission’s official X handle, the certificates were presented on behalf of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN) by Supervising National Commissioner for Rivers State, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu.

In her remarks, Mrs. Agbamuche-Mbu congratulated the winners and urged them to serve their constituents diligently, saying the most important responsibility is to represent the people well.
She noted that Certificates of Return would also be presented to winners in Kebbi State for the Zuru State Constituency election and in Ekiti State for the Governorship election who were absent at the ceremony held today.
The results of the Saturday bye-elections as declared by INEC saw the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidateIkeje Asogwa, emerge winner of the Enugu North Senatorial District by-election, replacing late Senator Okey Ezea who died on November 18, 2025, at the age of 62.
APC also emerged victorious at the Nasarawa North Senatorial bye-election as Danladi Halilu Envulu-Anza was declared winner of the poll.
Similarly, the ruling party’s candidate for the Ondo South Senatorial bye-election, Dayo Faduyile, was declared winner of the election.
APC however lost the Rivers South-East Senatorial bye-election as the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Nwoku Johnson, was declared winner, replacing the late Senator Barry Barinada Mpigi who died in February 2026.
