One person has been killed with seven others injured as trailer crashed into a campaign procession of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday in Ede, Osun state.
The incident reportedly occurred in the Oke Gada area of the town during a campaign walk organised for the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August governorship election.
According to an eyewitness, the trailer veered off its course and ploughed into the party procession.
The Injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Meanwhile, the driver of the trailer claimed the vehicle suffered brake failure.
The Director of Media and Information of the APC in the state, Mr Kola Olabisi, confirmed the incident, noting that full details were yet to reach the party secretariat.
He added that the party had dispatched a team to ascertain the actual cause of the accident and would provide further information upon conclusion of its findings.
When contacted by newsmen, the Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osun Command, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi, said the command had yet to receive any official report on the incident.
Meanwhile, picture of the deceased victim showed that he had suffered heavy fracture on both legs during the crash.
