There is tension in the All Progressive Congress across the country as governors of the Northern extraction said they would not accept the Senate President Ahmed Lawan as the consensus candidate of the party.
The NWC members insisted other aspirants must be given a level playing ground to compete.
Adamu’s adoption of Lawan as consensus candidate is against the position of 11 APC northern Governors, who had earlier conceded that power could move to the South after President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.
Adamu said to members of the National Working Committee that the choice of Lawan was with due consultation with the President.
