A South Africa-based Nigerian businessman has been shot dead in Witbank as evacuation deadline looms.
The man simply identified as Big Joe was shot dead outside his shop.
Video shared on X showed the body of the businessman lying motionless along the pavement before the arrival of the police cordoned off the murder scene.
While the identity of his killer is largely unknown, the murder of the businessman is widely been considered xenophobic attack on African migrants who had been compelled by some anti-immigration movements to leave South Africa.
NPO Reported that the movements had issued a June 30th deadly for the evacuation of the migrants from their country.
The development had led to the repatriation of several African migrants back to their countries, including Nigeria.
A total of 324 Nigerians have been evacuated from South Africa ahead of the deadline.
