A lecturer at the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) was brutalised by the husband and relatives of a female student over alleged delay of her project’s approval.
The lecturer whose name not disclosed allegedly delayed the student’s graduation for two years after repeatedly rejecting her project over the student’s before demanding a sexual relationship in return for approval.
According to reports, the married student informed her husband, and the couple allegedly arranged a meeting with the lecturer.
On arrival at the agreed location, he was confronted and beaten by the husband and other relatives of the student.
Video of the assault recorded and shared on Instagram on Wednesday showed the relatives beating the lecturer with whips as he cried for help.
He would however be freed after the assault with an attached clip showing his heavily battered face.
The incident had attracted mixed reactions from netizens.
While some commended the family of the female student for the standing up against the lecturer, other condemned the assault, stressing that the allegation was unproven.
