The United States has published names of 124 Nigerians set to be deported from the country as part of its intensified immigration enforcement under President Donald Trump.
As contained in a statement published by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), those listed have been placed on its “worst of the worst” criminal register.
The agency published their names and photographs, with some of their offences which include alleged fraud, money laundering, sexual assault, and theft.
It however remains unclear when the deportations will begin as no date was stated in the publication.
The Homeland Security said the affected individuals were convicted of serious crimes and that the operation is being carried out by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“The hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations, starting with the worst of the worst,” the agency stated.
According to reports, the list includes dozens of Nigerians such as Sunday Adediora, Marcus Unigwe, Ejike Asiegbunam, Emmanuel Mayegun Adeola, Joshua Ineh, Usman Momoh, Oludayo Adeagbo, and Olamide Jolayemi.
Also contained in the list are Kingsley Ariegwe, Patrick Onogwu, Kenneth Unanka, Uche Diuno, Boluwatife Afolabi, Henry Idiagbonya, Chukwuemeka Okorie, Chima Orji, Abdul Akinsanya, Chibuzo Nwaonu and many others.
